W. Soccer Hosts CCSU in Home Finale, Travels to Sacred Heart This Weekend

TEANECK, N.J. -- The Fairleigh Dickinson women's soccer team (7-6-2, 3-0-1 NEC) continues Northeast Conference play Friday when it hosts Central Connecticut State for a 7 p.m. contest at University Stadium in the 2013 home finale. The Knights will then travel to Fairfield, Conn. to face Sacred Heart for a 1 p.m. game Sunday, Oct. 27.

Friday night's contest will feature a senior night ceremony for goalkeeper Sage DoVale (Lilburn, Ga./Collins Hill), who is currently the NEC Defensive Player of the Week, an award she has won three times this season. The game will be broadcast live on NEC Front Row, and fans are encouraged to bring their own seats to the game. 

Last Time Out
The Knights downed Bryant, 3-0, at University Stadium last Friday, Oct. 18. Sophomore Carly Tice (Highland Falls, N.Y./James I. O'Neill ) scored her first goal of the season, followed by a pair of goals by sophomore Esther Rochon (Saint Romuald, Quebec/College Francois-Xavier-Garneau), who now has five on the year. DoVale made five saves en route to her fifth shutout of the year.

What You Need To Know: CCSU has given up 29 goals in 14 games and have yet to record a shutout this season. Despite their 4-10-0 record, the Blue Devils are a formidable opponent. They recently defeated the NEC-leading Saint Francis University, 2-1, in New Britain, Conn. Forward Julie Lavoie has three goals in just eight games this season. The second-place Knights need a victory to keep place with SFU, who currently lead FDU by two points for the top spot in the NEC standings.

Sacred Heart
2013 Season: 5-10-0 (2-3-0 NEC)
When: Sunday, Oct. 27 - 1 p.m.
Where: Fairfield, Conn. (Campus Field)
Series History: FDU leads 6-5-1
Last Meeting: Sept. 23, 2012 - Sacred Heart 1 FDU 0
What You Need To Know: Two of the Pioneer's three conference losses have come against teams that the Knights have beaten this season, LIU Brooklyn and Bryant. Junior Kristin Verrette leads the team with five goals and 14 points. 

Up Next
FDU will conclude the regular season next weekend with two NEC contests. On Friday Nov. 1, the Knights face last-place Robert Morris in Moon Township, Pa., before playing SFU on Sunday, Nov. 3 in a contest that could determine the regular-season conference champion.
