NORMAL, Ill. – The Fairleigh Dickinson University men's basketball team will continue competition in the South Padre Invitational with a Tuesday night game against Illinois State University on Nov. 20. Tipoff at Redbird Arena is slated for 8:05 p.m.
The Knights are 0-2 on the year after dropping road games to Atlantic 10 foe Xavier and Big Ten member Northwestern. Three players are currently averaging double-digit points. Seniors Melquan Bolding (Mt. Vernon, N.Y./Bishop Stepinac) and Lonnie Robinson (Deerfield Beach, Fla./Deerfield Beach) are averaging 14.5 and 13.5 points per game, respectively, while junior Mathias Seilund (Dragoer, Denmark/Falkonergaardens Gymnasium) is averaging 12.0 points per contest after recording a career-high 16 points against Northwestern.
The Redbirds are 3-0 on the season with wins over UC Santa Barbara, Drexel and Delaware State. ISU defeated Delaware State, 87-48, on Sunday in its first game of the South Padre Invitational.
Under first-year Head Coach Dan Muller, the Redbirds are led by Jackie Carmichael, who leads the squad with 18.7 points per game in 22 minutes of action per game. He also leads the team with 5.7 rebounds per contest and was named Missouri Valley Conference Player of the Week after scoring 27 points in the Redbirds' season opener.
Tyler Brown also adds 18.7 points per game to help ISU average 91 points per contest as a whole.
The Knights are 0-6 all-time against the Redbirds since 1959. In their last meeting the Knights fell 79-58 on Dec. 9, 1995. ISU Head Coach Dan Muller was a sophomore for the Redbirds at the time.
Following their contest, the Knights and Redbirds will both travel to South Padre Island, Texas for the final two games of the South Padre Invitational.
