NEW HAVEN, Conn. -- The Fairleigh Dickinson men's tennis continued play at the ITA Regional Championships with main draw and consolation singles matches.

In the main draw round of 64, FDU sophomore Arvis Berzins (Adazi, Latvia/Riga Language School) took down Lorenzo Rossi from Marist in straight sets, 7-6, 6-4. Berzins went on to play top-seeded Matija Pecotic of Princeton in the round of 32. Berzins battled Pecotic but eventually suffered a 6-3, 7-5 defeat.

For senior Ibrahim Shams (Cairo, Egypt/Manor House) after beating Fairfield's Ian Tesmond in the first round, Shams fell to Brown's Michael Riechmann, 6-2, 6-2, on Saturday.

In consolation action, senior Peter Skvarka (Banska Bystrica, Slovakia/Gymnazium J.G. Tajovskeho) defeated Albert Fontova of Stony Brook, 6-4, 6-2. Skvarka will take on Yale's Daniel Faierman tomorrow.

Fellow senior Yuri Gricheno (Sao Paulo, Brazil/Colegio Amorim) was a straight set 6-2, 6-2 winner over Sacred Heart's Lucas Bagi in consolation singles. Gricheno is scheduled to play Cornell's Spencer Clark in the next round.
