The Fairleigh Dickinson University women's basketball team will travel to New Britain, Connecticut to take on the Blue Devils of Central Connecticut State University, Saturday, Jan. 28. Tip-off at Detrick Gymnasium is slated for 1:00 pm as part of a men's/women's double-header.
FDU is 9-11 on the year with an even 4-4 mark in Northeast Conference action. They will try to get back to the win column with the New England road trip.
The Knights most recently fell to the Western-Pennsylvania contingent of the NEC, Saint Francis PA and Robert Morris, but had started NEC play 4-2, the best conference record a Knight team had seen since the 2001-02 season.
After starting the season 6-2, the Blue Devils dropped seven consecutive games in December and January. They have since improved to a 9-10 record overall, with a 3-5 mark in Northeast Conference action.
CCSU is led by the Babe sisters, Jaclyn and Jessica. Jaclyn Babe averaged 15.5 points per game, while Jessica adds 10.5 points per game and 7.4 rebounds. Kirsten Daamen also puts up double figures for the Blue Devils, with 13.1 points and 5.3 rebounds per game.
As the team, CCSU averages 59.1 points per game, just .6 points more than their opponents. They bring down 38.8 rebounds per game and allow 19.4 turnovers, while shooting .408 from the field.
Today will be the 31st meeting between the Knights and the Blue Devils. Since 1988, the Knights have won on 14 occasions, and falled on 16.
In last year's meetings, the Knights defeated CCSU at home on December 22, 51-46 before falling in New Britain on January 22, 29-57.
The game will be shown live on CPTV Sports, a Connecticut based broadcasting network. The Knights will then travel to Bryant University for a Monday night game.
