W. Basketball Back in Action Against Stony Brook

Full Game Notes

The Fairleigh Dickinson women's basketball team resumes action with a home game against the Seawolves of Stony Brook University on Wednesday, December 14.

After six games in ten days the Knights took last week to recuperate.  They will be looking to add to the win column when they tip-off at Stratis Arena at 7:00 pm.

The Knights are 3-7 on the year with a 0-2 record in Northeast Conference play.  In their last outing they faced Robert Morris University in Moon Township, Pa.  FDU fell, 59-70 to drop to 0-2 in the NEC.  Their last win was a home contest against Saint Peter's on November 29.  The Knights defeated the Peahens, 55-46.

Senior Mariyah Laury (Orange, NJ/Orange) leads the team with 13.8 points per game, while classmate Esther Wallace (Springfield, MA/Springfield Central) leads the Knights with 6.3 rebounds per game.

The Knights faced SBU last season in Stony Brook, NY.  FDU fell, 51-68 but saw strong performances from then juniors Laury and Wallace.  Laury had 13 points for FDU, while Wallace pulled down 10 rebounds.

The Seawolves are 1-8 on the season under first-year Head Coach Beth O'Boyle.  SBU has fallen to NEC opponents Sacred Heart and LIU but defeated Robert Morris, 42-40 in Stony Brook on November 23.  They have lost five-straight since the win over the Colonials.

SBU is currently fourth in the nation in scoring defense with just 54.1 points allowed per game.  The Seawolves average just 42.3 points per game on offense.  They are led by junior Jessica Previlon who has averaged 6.9 points and 7.2 rebounds per game this season.  Senior Whitney Davis has grabbed 7.8 rebounds per game.

The Seawolves hold the advantage in the all-time series between FDU and SBU.  Stony Brook has won each of the two times the teams have faced each other.

The Knights will travel to in-state opponent, Rider on Thursday, December 22.
