It was a busy day for the Fairleigh Dickinson women's fencing squad on Sunday, Nov. 13, as the Knights took on seven teams at the Vassar Invitational in Poughkeepsie, NY.
FDU squared off with the likes of Stevens Institute of Technology, City College of New York, Sacred Heart, Vassar, Tufts, Army and Wellesley.
Senior
Annie Kazarjan (Budapest, Hungary/Koecsey Ferenc Gimnazium) had a day for the ages, posting a perfect 21-0 record in epee. The Budapest, Hungary native is now 25-2 in her last three outings. Also in epee, junior
Christine Forsythe (Hackettstown, NJ/Hackettstown) continued her impressive start to the season with a 14-7 record on Sunday.
Rounding out the Knights' effort in epee, senior
Evgeniya Tyrtova (Omst, Russia/Liceum #66) posted a 6-15 mark.
FDU also had a solid showing in sabre, headlined by sophomore
Hanna Heldenmuth (Miami, Fla./Keystone National)'s 18-3 mark, while junior
Genele Streitz (Mendham, NJ/West Morris Mendham High School) compiled 10 wins in 21 tries for a 10-11 finish.
Sophomore
Meena Murugappan (Lusaka, Zambia/The International School of Lusaka ) made her collegiate debut for the Knights, picking up three victories in foil for a 3-18 record.
Up next for the Knights is the Christmas Invitational on Sunday, Dec. 4, in Jersey City, NJ.
