W. Basketball to Host Yale in Home Opener

The Fairleigh Dickinson University women's basketball team will host the Bulldogs of Yale in its home opener on Monday, Nov. 14.  Tip-off at Stratis Arena in the Rothman Center is scheduled for 5:00 pm. 

The Knights are 0-1 after beginning their season on Friday, Nov. 11 at Boston College.  FDU fell, 57-68 at Conte Forum but showed promise for upcoming games.  Senior Mariyah Laury (Orange, NJ/Orange), a preseason All-NEC team member, led the team with 19 points.  Laury also added two assists and three steals.

Danielle Pankey (Middletown, N.J./Middletown South), a 2010-11 All-Rookie selection added 13 points for the Knights, while freshman point guard Amanda Andrades (Virginia Beach, Va./Princess Anne) began her career with FDU with nine points and four assists.

The Bulldogs are 1-0 on the season after defeating Holy Cross, 76-71, in their season opener on Friday.  Megan Vasquez, a 2010-11 First-Team All-Ivy selection led the team with 23 points.  Vasquez averaged 13.6 points per game last season but saw no action in the Knights' 59-57 win over Yale on Dec. 6. 

The Knights are 3-0 all-time against the Bulldogs dating back to 2002. 

After the home match, the Knights will travel to NJIT on Wednesday, Nov. 16 for a 7:00 pm game and will go to West Point, NY for a Saturday afternoon game with Army.
