The Fairleigh Dickinson women's basketball team (7-4, 2-0 NEC) will be looking to continue its win streak as they travel to Washington, D.C. to take on the Bison of Howard University on Thursday, December 30. Tip-off at Burr Gym is slated for 7:00 pm.
The Knights are coming off a 51-46 win over Central Connecticut State University. Junior Mariyah Laury (Orange, NJ/Orange) led the Knights with 24 points against the Blue Devils while red-shirt freshman Danielle Pankey (Middletown, N.J./Middletown South) and senior Alyssa Mayrose (Freehold, NJ/Freehold) added eight points each. Junior Esther Wallace (Springfield, MA/Springfield Central) helped the Knights to their second conference win with five points and seven rebounds.
Howard comes into the game with a 3-9 record on the season. The Bison are led by Saadia Doyle who is averaging 17.2 points per game and 8.4 rebounds per game this season.
This will be just the fourth meeting of the Knights bison since 1981. Before last season, FDU held the advantage, 2-1 with Howard's last win on De¬cember 4, 1981. On November 16, 2009, the Knights defeated Howard at the Rothman Center, 76-57.
In the most recent match¬up, the Knights were led by Mari¬yah Laury and Jordan Sykes (Avalon, NJ/Holy Spirit) who each scored 19 points to lead the Knights to victory. Sykes also grabbed nine rebounds and had five assists.
After playing Howard, the Knights will return home to host NJIT, Sacred Heart and Quinnipiac at the Rothman Center. Tip off against NJIT is scheduled for 7:00 pm on January 3.
