The Fairleigh Dickinson University men's basketball team lost to host Houston Baptist, 92-77, at Sharp Gym in Houston, Texas on Wednesday evening.
Senior guard Sean Baptiste (North Brunswick, NJ/St. Josephs of Metuchen) led all scorers with 31 points, his season-high and six points shy of matching his career-high. He went 11-for-18 from the floor and also led the Knights on the boards with seven rebounds. Junior guard Terence Grier (Cranford, NJ/St. Thomas More Prep) added 17 points and two steals, while junior guard Mike Scott (Philadelphia, PA/Texas Christian) had eight assists and only one turnover. FDU took a 21-10 lead, staging a 14-4 run. A three from Baptiste was followed by a lay-in from Grier off a steal from sophomore forward Anaclet Mulumba (Montreal, Canada/Vanier College), one of three balls he swiped during the game. Baptiste sank a jumper from just inside the arc and Mulumba connected on one from the charity stripe to cap the run.
The Knights held a 23-12 lead until Andrew Gonzalez scored seven-straight points for the Huskies.
HBU had a 9-2 spurt to cut it to a two-point lead for the Knights, 25-23, with six minutes remaining in the first period.

After FDU pushed ahead to take a 48-41 lead on a trey from Scott, the Huskies scored back-to-back three-pointers to make it a one-point margin, 48-47.
Houston Baptist took its first lead since the 18:17 mark in the first half, 49-48 on a lay-up from Flaherty. HBU then went on a 23-4 run over almost six minutes to take a 64-52 lead with 10 minutes remaining in regulation.
Baptiste and senior forward Alvin Mofunanya (Englewood, NJ/Dwight Morrow), who finished with nine points, each netted both shots from the line to cut the lead down to eight with 8:43 on the clock, but the Huskies went on a 7-2 spurt over the next two minutes to regain the double-digit lead.
Houston Baptist worked up to its largest lead of the game, 83-64, with three minutes remaining. Mulumba cut it down to 88-75 with a lay-up, but that was as close as the Knights would get, as Houston Baptist took the 92-77 win.
After shooting 42 percent in the first half, Fairleigh Dickinson improved to 50 percent in the second to finish the game at 46 percent. The Knights were 14-of-19 from the line, while the Huskies were 23-of-28. FDU held an edge in offensive rebounds, 16-14, but HBU held a slight edge on the boards overall, 36-34.
FDU edged Houston Baptist in points in the paint (38-28) and fast break points (12-2).
"They beat us in every aspect of the game," said Head Coach Greg Vetrone., "They really executed offensively and once they got going, they were tough to stop."
Despite the loss, FDU's 77 points, 29 field goals made, .460 field goal percentage, five three-point field goals made, .417 three-point field goal percentage, .737 free throw percentage and nine steals are all team season-highs.

The Knights are back in action on Saturday, Dec. 5 when they open Northeast Conference action with a tilt at Quinnipiac at 2pm.
