Bats Stifled in Baseball's 6-0 Loss at San Francisco

The Fairleigh Dickinson University baseball team dropped the opener of a four-game set at San Francisco University, 6-0, Thursday, March 20.  The Knights slid to 2-11, while the Dons improved to 10-10.

 

In his first collegiate start, freshman Evan Dechant (Asheville, NC/Asheville) suffered the loss, tossing 6.0 solid innings.  He allowed one earned run and sat down five, before giving way to freshman righty Chris Theordor (Staten Island, NY/Staten Island Tech).

 

FDU freshman first baseman Brian Dillon (Sarasota, FL/Cardinal Mooney), junior infielder Jeff Vincent (Murrysville, PA/Franklin Regional) and senior outfielder John Paganotti (Staten Island, NY/St. Joseph By The Sea) contributed two-hit efforts, batting second, third, and fifth, respectively.

 

USF freshman southpaw Matt Lujan fanned five to grab the victory, while working eight shutout innings.  Senior right fielder Kyle Morgan went yard in the fourth inning ? marking the contest's winning run.  After two unearned runs in the sixth, the Dons smacked five hits, plating three runs in the eighth frame.

 

The two teams collide at 3:00 p.m. (PST), Friday, March 21 in San Francisco, CA.
