The Fairleigh Dickinson University women's soccer team was upended, 5-1, by Central Connecticut State University, Sunday, Oct. 26 in New Britain, CT. Freshman forward Rashidah Sherman (Pelham Manor, NY/Pelham Memorial) netted her seventh goal of the season, as the Knights dropped to 3-4 in the Northeast Conference and 6-10 overall.
The Blue Devils improved to 9-5-4 overall and 6-2 versus league foes.
In the ninth minute, junior forward Rachel Caneen fed freshman forward Brittany Jackson for a tap-in and a 1-0 advantage. Sherman's goal in the 31st minute knotted the contest, 1-1.
At halftime, CCSU held a 2-1 lead, as sophomore midfielder Clio Tregear struck for the game-winner in the 39th minute, with junior defender Karise Hilt assisting. Caneen scored 30 seconds following the opening tap in the second stanza, ultimately triggering a three-goal half. Caneen connected in the 85th minute, with Hilt following in the final minute of play.
FDU senior goalkeeper Rachel Derrico (/Canon McMillan) suffered the loss, and made four saves. Senior counterpart Erin Herd made three stops in the win.
Central Connecticut out-shot the Knights, 21-6, with the Knights posting three in each half. Junior midfielder Lora Lehr (Rosemere, Quebec/Villa Maria) notched three shots ? all on goal.
Head Coach Renee Montana's squad wraps-up the regular season at University Field in Teaneck, NJ next weekend. They host Saint Francis University (PA) at 3:00 p.m., Friday, Oct. 31, followed by a 1:00 p.m. contest versus Robert Morris University, Sunday, Nov. 2 ? Senior Day.
