Baseball Beaten by St. Peter's, 13-4

The Fairleigh Dickinson University baseball team lost 13-4 to St. Peter's College at FDU Field, Tuesday, April 3.

 

FDU (5-21) jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the second inning, as senior infielder Jovan Santos (Woodhaven, NY/Archbishop Malloy) (Woodhaven, NY/Archbishop Malloy) delivered a two-out base hit to centerfield, scoring junior infielder Luis Rosario (Bronx, NY/James Monroe) (Bronx, NY/James Monroe/Rockland CC) and sophomore catcher Vincent Pennachio (Huntington Station, NY/Commack).

 

The Knights extended the advantage to 4-0 when senior outfielder Vincente-Alexander Medina (North Bergen, NJ/Paramus Catholic) (North Bergen, NJ/Paramus Catholic) drove home a run in the third frame with a single up the middle and Rosario was hit by a pitch with the sacks full.

 

The Peacocks (13-14) took the lead in the top of the fourth inning, batting around, while posting a twelve-spot on the strength of ten hits. Infielder Dave Lewandoski (Bayonne, NJ) highlighted the rally with a grand slam to left-center field.

 

SPC right-hander Stephen Spitaleria (Saddlebrook, NJ) picked up his second win of the season, tossing 3.1 innings of hitless ball. Freshman lefty Terry Lydecker (Pompton Lakes, NJ/Pompton Lakes) (Pompton Lakes, NJ/Pompton Lakes) suffered his second loss in as many starts.

 

Sophomore infielder Jeff Vincent (Murrysville, PA/Franklin Regional) (Belmar, PA/Franklin Regional) reached base on three occasions and Medina tallied a season-high three-hit afternoon.

 

Freshman lefty Jason Williamson (Bayside, NY/Christ the King) (Bayside, NY/Christ the King) hurled two innings of relief without allowing an earned run. Sophomore right-hander Bryan Greer (Boca Raton, FL/Olympic Heights) (Boca Raton, FL/Olympic Heights) worked a 1-2-3 ninth in his first collegiate appearance on the hill, fanning two.

 

The Knights host Quinnipiac University for a four-game series, with the first ball game ? a nine inning contest ? slated for 3:00 p.m., Thursday, April 5.
