Women's Soccer Falls, 1-0, to Saint Francis PA

The Fairleigh Dickinson University women's soccer team finished the season with a 1-0 loss to visiting Saint Francis (PA), Sunday, Oct. 29 at University Field. The Knights (4-12-1, 3-6 NEC) endured heavy winds on Senior Day, notching 19 shots, connecting with the post and crossbar on more than one occasion.

Senior goalkeepers Kyla Clark (/Notre Dame/Univ. of Texas - El Paso) (Ottawa, Ontario/Univ. of Texas ? El Paso) and Courtney Smith (/Gelnelg - MD) (Pocono Summit, PA/ Glenelg-MD) both saw time in goal, combining for five saves. Clark took the loss, following a scoring strike by Red Flash midfielder Lauren Popovich (Rochester, NY/Aquinas Institute) in the 52nd minute off an assist from forward Kirsten Hoffsmith (Manheim, PA/Manheim Central).

“I'm disappointed, especially for our three seniors,” Head Coach Renee Montana said. “We need to learn how to finish. All the credit to Saint Francis who were competing for a playoff spot and came out hard.”

Freshman Jennifer Arceneaux (/Ralston Valley) (Arvada, CO/Ralston Valley) paced the FDU offense, registering six shots.

SFU remains in postseason contention following the win, finishing the year at 8-8-2 and 4-3-2 in Northeast Conference action.
