Women's Soccer Falls at CCSU, 4-2

The Fairleigh Dickinson University women's soccer team lost to home-standing Central Connecticut State University, 4-2, in New Britain, CT, Sunday, Oct. 22. Sophomore midfielder Emma Yamada (/LaSalle Academy) (Saunderstown, RI) and junior midfielder Michelle DeCourcey (/Fredericton) (Fredericton, New Brunswick) tallied their first goals of the season for the Knights (3-10-1, 2-4 NEC).

FDU opened up a 1-0 advantage in the 40th minute, with DeCourcey assisting on Yamada's scoring strike. However, the Blue Devils leveled the score two minutes later with a goal by forward Rachel Caneen ? her first of two ? and the contest entered the half, 1-1.

In the final 45 minutes, CCSU recorded three, unanswered scores to seal the game. DeCourcey netted a goal via a penalty kick in the 89th minute.

"Both teams played extremely hard and physical," Head Coach Renee Montana said. "It was a good game. Unfortunately, we had too many breakdowns in the final 10 minutes and they came down and capitalized."

Senior goalkeeper Kyla Clark (/Notre Dame/Univ. of Texas - El Paso) (Ottawa, Ontario) notched a career-high 17 saves between the pipes in 90 minutes.

The Knights travel to Hamden, CT to take on Quinnipiac at 3:00 p.m., Tuesday, Oct. 24.
