Oct. 16, 2005

Box Score

MOON TOWNSHIP, PA - The Fairleigh Dickinson University women's soccer team downed Robert Morris University, 4-0, in Moon Township, PA on Sunday afternoon. The Knights, now 6-7-1 overall and 2-2-1 in the Northeast Conference, scored three first half goals to take control of the game.

Four different players scored goals for the visiting Knights while six players finished with a point. The Colonials were outshot, 16-6, while holding a slight advantage in corner kicks, 4-3.

Alex White opened the game as she volleyed a pass from Jennifer Tarvin inside the penalty box at 16:58. Ana Moniz added to the lead as she intercepted a clearing attempt and lobbed a shot from 30-yards out over sophomore goaltender Elizabeth Moss.

Marguerite Ferrell then tallied the third goal from 25 yards out when she found room inside the near post on a direct kick. Michelle DeCourcey capped the scoring by beating RMU sophomore goalkeeper Jessica Onufer to a diagonal ball from Kristen Habenicht. DeCourcey touched it past the netminder and found the back of the wide-open net.

"It was a solid effort by everyone," said Head Coach Peter Gaglioti. "We had a good all-around performance by the entire group. Instead of having one or two people do the scoring for us, it was good to have it spread out as four different people scored goals."

The Knights are back in action when they host Monmouth on October 21 at 2:00 p.m.
