Ruffin Wins Seventh NEC Field Athlete of the Week

BRIDGEWATER, N.J. - FDU sophomore jumper Ethan Ruffin has been named the NEC's Field Athlete of the Week for the seventh time this season, per a conference release Wednesday afternoon.

This honor comes after Ruffin tied his season best effort in the Men's High Jump at the Penn Relays, where he jumped a height of 2.17 meters, clearing that bar on the second try. The mark of 2.17 meters is the best in the NEC and is still one of the best in the East Region of NCAA Track and Field.

The leap of 2.17 meters is sure to put the rest of the track and field word on notice, as Ruffin finished as the runner-up in a competitive Men's High Jump event at a historic meet in the track and field calendar, with a packed crowd at Franklin Field.

Ruffin and the rest of his FDU teammates will head to the NEC Outdoor Track and Field Championships in New Britain, Conn. on the campus of Central Connecticut State. In his FDU career, Ruffin has not yet lost a Men's High Jump event, as he won the indoor and outdoor title last year, along with the indoor championship in the 2025-26 campaign.

Action from the track at the NEC Championships is set to start at 9 a.m. on Saturday May 2nd.
