FDU Sweeps Saint Francis in Weekend Series

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 | Box Score 3 HACKENSACK, N.J. – FDU softball picked up a series sweep over Saint Francis to move to 7-11 in NEC play. 
 
GAME ONE

FDU took game one of the series in a wild, rain-delayed affair. After a 1 p.m. first pitch, FDU fell behind early in the first inning, as the Red Flash took a 1-0 lead off Jamie Sencion. In the bottom half of the first inning, Madison Rishel led thinks off. Mid-way through Rishel's at-bat, the sky opened up in Hackensack, N.J, leading to an hour-long rain delay. After the sky cleared, both sides resumed play. FDU poured things on in the bottom of the first afrter resuming play. The Knights scored 10 runs in the bottom of the first to take a sizable lead over the Red Flash. FDU would add two more runs in the bottom of the second to add to the lead. In the bottom of the third, the rain came back to Hackensack, putting the Knights into another rain delay. The game would resume yet again at approximately 4 p.m, three hours after first pitch. After resuming, Saint Francis started to heat up on offense. The Red Flash scored in the fourth inning, and then scored four runs in the top of the fifth, making it a 12-6 game. In the bottom half of the fifth, Amanda Jupinka came to the plate with a runner on. Jupinka sent a ball over the left-center fence, enforcing the run rule and giving the Knights a 14-6 win.
 
GAME TWO

FDU kept the bats hot to start off game two of the series. The Knights scored four runs in the bottom half of the first inning. FDU would add two more runs in the third and fourth inning to build themselves a 6-0 lead. In the circle, freshman Sierra Albright was exceptional for the Knights. Albright shut down the Red Flash, holding them scoreless across the first six innings of play. The lone blemish against Albright was a two-run homer by Anabelle Farmer in the seventh inning. Albright finished with seven innings pitched, allowing two earned runs and six hits. The freshman hurled the first complete game of her career in a 6-2 win.
 
GAME THREE

 The Knights looked to cap off a series sweep in game three on Sunday. In front of a packed house for Little League Day in Hackensack, the Knights delivered. FDU scored three runs in the first, and three in the second to build an early lead. Jamie Sencion shut down Saint Francis, pitching five innings of one-run ball to protect the lead. After scoring two runs in the bottom of the fifth, FDU took an 8-1 lead. Then, Zoe Milonopoulos hit an RBI single, giving the Knights a win on the run rule by a final score of 9-1. With the win, the Knights completed their first series sweep of NEC play in 2026.
 
WHAT'S NEXT

FDU returns on Thursday, April 23, when they host Sacred Heart in Hackensack. First pitch of the mid-week doubleheader will come at 2:30 p.m, with coverage available on NEC Front Row.
