HACKENSACK, N.J. – FDU women's basketball (27-4, 18-0) picked up a 61-39 victory over Saint Francis (3-26, 3-15) on Thursday morning to wrap up the 2025-26 regular season.
Saint Francis got into a quick groove on offense, keeping pace with the Knights to start the game. FDU held just a two-possession lead after the first quarter, going into the second quarter up 19-13. The perimeter game was working early for the Knights. FDU hit five threes as a team in the first quarter, propelling their early lead.
FDU's shooting stayed hot into the second quarter, and the Knights began to grow their lead. Reese Downey hit a pair of triples to propel an 11-0 FDU run to start the quarter. Behind that run, the Knights would go ahead by double-digits for the remainder of the game.
The vaunted FDU defense also showed up in the second quarter. Saint Francis scored just six points in the frame, being held to only three made field goals. The defensive pressure by FDU would continue into the second half. The Red Flash again scored just six points in the third quarter, converting only two baskets from the field. Behind the incredible defense, FDU was able to control the remainder of regulation despite some cold stretches on offense.
As the final buzzer sounded, the Knights took away a 61-39 victory, completing their second consecutive undefeated NEC regular season campaign.
- FDU has gone undefeated in NEC play in back-to-back seasons.
- The Knights are just the second team in NEC history to go undefeated in back-to-back conference seasons (Monmouth, 1986-87 & 1987-88).
- FDU joins UConn as the only two teams in the nation to go undefeated in conference both last season and this season.

- Kailee McDonald led the Knights in scoring in the win, dropping 17 points.
- McDonald knocked down five threes in just 25 minutes of action.
- Reese Downey played 23 minutes off the bench for the Knights, scoring nine points.
- Downey knocked down three triples in the win.
- FDU assisted on 16 of their 22 made field goals in the win.
- The Knights out-rebounded Saint Francis 45 to 37.
FDU heads into the 2026 NEC Tournament as the #1 seed. The Knights will host #8 Saint Francis U in the NEC Quarterfinals on Monday, March 9 at 7 p.m. Coverage will be available on NEC Front Row and WFDU.
