Jeremy Cheeseman Wins NEC Player of the Week, Three Others Get Prime Performer in NEC Weekly Awards

BRIDGEWATER, N.J. - FDU Two-Way senior Jeremy Cheeseman was given the nod as the NEC's Player of the Week in the conference's weekly awards, for his spectacular performance in the last week of ballgames, where FDU went 5-0.

Cheeseman led the Knights both at the plate and on the mound in the five game week. On the mound, he earned his first win of the season after logging a quality start against New Haven with four strikeouts in six full innings. At the plate over the week of play, he hit .538 with seven hits, four home runs, 8 RBI and 8 runs scored while tacking on a pair of steals. After his two homer game against New Haven, Cheeseman now has four multi-homer games this season, and is tied for the team lead in home runs with eight.

Another Knight named Jeremy was tabbed as a Prime Performer in the same conference release, as graduate designated hitter and first basemen Jeremy Delamota was given the honor after an incredible week at the plate for FDU. Delamota went 9-for-12 at the dish with four doubles over the week of play, while also stealing three bases. Delamota is now the team leader in average for FDU, and has a hit a double in four straight contests.

Hunter Ray has made himself familiar to the conference office this season, as the left handed hitting slugger was also given a Prime Performer honor. Ray went 9-for-19 at the plate with a double, three home runs, driving in seven runners. Ray also walked six times and had a perfect 1.000 fielding percentage in the field for FDU over the undefeated week of action.

The last Knight to be tabbed with an award was left fielder Jimmy Mantuano. Mantuano continued what was an eight game hitting streak at the start of the week, which has since been extended to 13 games. Mantuano went 7-for-17 at the plate with nine runs scored, while also hitting a home run and driving in eight runners.

These Knights as well as their teammates are currently boasting an eight game winning streak, and will put it on the line against St. John's in a road test againt the Johnnies at Jack Kaiser Stadium on Tuesday afternoon. First pitch is set for 3 p.m. and the game will be streamed on ESPN+.
