TEANECK, N.J. - FDU Baseball (12-7, 7-1 NEC) defeated the New Haven Chargers by a final score of 7-3 Saturday afternoon at Naimoli Family Baseball Complex. The Knights used a three hit day from
Jeremy Delamota and a timely homer from
Hunter Ray to power past the Chargers for the 12th win of the season, and the 7th in NEC play.
The Knights got on the board first with a
Jimmy Mantuano home run, which marked his second of the season to break the scoreless tie in the second inning. The Chargers tied the game in the top half of the third by way of a sacrifice fly, as New Haven was able to tie the score off of FDU starter
Jeremy Cheeseman.
FDU punched back in a big way in the bottom of the third as
Jeremy Delamota cleared the bases with a double, with the two-bagger coming with the bases loaded. FDU grabbed a 4-1 lead in the bottom of the third inning, but the Chargers cut the lead down to just one in the next half inning, as Cheeseman allowed a two run single, and New Haven pulled within one run heading into the bottom of the fourth.
After a few scoreless frames,
Hunter Ray would break the silence with a loud two run homer, as the sophomore hit his 8th home run of the season over the right field wall. Later in the sixth, Delamota came up big for FDU once again, as he singled home
Garryn Plummer for his third hit and RBI of the ballgame.
The contest was then turned over to Knights closer
Nick Noble who was asked to record a nine out save and delivered for the burgundy and blue. Noble slammed the door on the Chargers in the last three innings of the ballgame, allowing just one hit, and striking out three batters in the process.
The save marked the second of the season for Noble, as the Knights tallied their seventh win in a row, and their 12th of the season. FDU now moves to 9-1 at Naimoli Family Baseball Complex in the 2026 campaign.
The Knights and New Haven will meet for one final time at Naimoli Family Baseball Complex on Sunday at 1 p.m. FDU freshman
Drew Cisney is set to toe the slab for FDU, making another start at home. The game will be streamed on NEC Front Row with Dominic Rapposelli calling the action.
