STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. - A group of the FDU Track and Field team once again headed to the Ocean Breeze Athletic Complex this Friday to compete in the Fastrack National Invite, getting the chance to compete against the Northeast's best competition.
FDU was once again led by thrower
Darien Cade on the Men's side, as he placed sixth in the Men's Weight Throw event. Cade notched a meet best of 14.88 meters on his final throw of the day to vault himself into finishing in sixth. Following his sixth place finish, Cade then went on to finish in 3rd place in the Men's Shot Put event, as he threw a distance of 15.05 meters to finish in the top three of the Shot Put event.
Two freshman FDU throwers also turned in an impressive performance as
Justin Banks threw a make of 14.36 meters to take seventh place, with
Jayson Ross right behind him, as he threw a distance of 14.10 meters to take ninth.
On the women's side, the Knights were once again behind the great performance of
Tata Coulibaly, who placed second in the Women''s Weight Throw event after throwing a mark of 17.17 meters, which still stands as the best mark in all of the NEC. Sophomore
Camille Ellis placed 12th in the event after throwing a distance of 13.59 meters.
FDU will compete in their first event of the postseason the next time out, as the Knights will be competing in the NEC Championships at the Ocean Breeze Athletic Complex. Action from Staten Island will begin at 9 a.m. on Sunday, February 15th.
