BRIDGEWATER, N.J. - Graduate
Abbey Baker and sophomore Pietro Piccoli both took home NEC Golfer of the Month honors, as announced in a conference-wide release Thursday afternoon.
Piccoli, fresh off of a dominating win at the Blue Hen Intercollegiate, recieves this award after breaking the 54 hole scoring record at FDU, as Piccoli was -11 for the tournament, shooting rounds of 68,67, and 70 to win the tournament as an individual by six strokes, where his teammate
Will McKernan took second.
Piccoli also helped the Knights grab their second team win of the fall at the Bucknell Invitational, finishing in a tie for sixth place, firing off rounds of 67 and 69 to finish in the top 10, and help FDU cruise to a team tournament win.
Baker also had quite the month of October, as she was the Knights top finisher in both of their tournaments this month, with two top ten finishes. Baker finished seventh at the Doc Sauers Invitational, shooting a 76 followed by a 72. The Knights placed fourth as a team, and have been coming along nicely in the fall season.
It's also worth noting that Baker closed the month of September winning the Stonehill "Hill Yeah" Invitational, and kept the momentum rolling into the final two tournaments of the fall season.
This will be the last you hear from Baker and Piccoli on the course until the new year, where the Knights will get back on the links in the first week of March.
