LORETTO, PA. – FDU women's basketball (11-4, 2-0) picked up a road victory over Saint Francis U (0-13, 0-2) on Sunday afternoon.
The Knights started things off hot, jumping out to an 8-0 run across the first three minutes of regulation. Rebecca Osei-Owusu started cooking early for the Knights, scoring five of the first eight for FDU. The Red flash would battle back in the first quarter, and tighten things up to a 12-8 FDU lead heading into the second quarter.
FDU took off like a rocket in the second, opening the frame on a 20-1 run. FDU wound up out-scoring Saint Francis 24 to three across the quarter, holding them to just one made field goal in ten minutes. FDU cruised into the halftime break with a 36-11 lead.
With the large halftime cushion, the Knights were able to control the game across the second half. Saint Francis would not cut the lead to any closer than 26 across the final twenty minutes. FDU capped things with a monster fourth quarter, out-scoring the Red Flash 24 to five in the frame. Again, the Knights held Saint Francis to just one made field goal in the quarter, cruising to a 73-28 victory.
- Kailee McDonald led the Knights in scoring, dropping 13 points.
- McDonald knocked down three triples and grabbed six boards in the winning effort.
- Rebecca Osei-Owusu stayed hot, scoring in double figures for the second straight game.
- The junior scored 11 points, grabbed seven rebounds, and dished out four assists.
- It was a balanced scoring effort for FDU, with 11 different players recording points.
- The Knights completely shut down Saint Francis U, holding them to just 28 points.
- 28 points is the lowest amount a Division I opponent has scored against FDU this season.
- FDU dominated the glass, out-rebounding the Red Flash 47 to 26.
