BRIDGEWATER, N.J. - Three FDU Track and Field athletes received Athlete of the Week honors in the NEC's weekly release this Tuesday. 

Chase Lopez was named as the NEC's Men's Track Athlete of the Week after he won the Men's Mile event at the Dr. Sander Scorcher at the New York Armory on Saturday afternoon. Lopez clocked a personal best time of 4:13.66 to win the event as put himself as the third best mile time in the NEC this season. Lopez has won at least one event in every track meet that he has participated since the calendar has turned to 2026. 

Ethan Ruffin was once again given the nod as the Men's NEC Field Athlete of the Week. This is the third time this year that he has received such honor, and this one comes after he won the Men's High Jump event at the Dr. Sander Scorcher this past weekend. Ruffin jumped a height of 2.11 meters to win the event, maintaining his undefeated record in Men's High Jump events this season. Ruffin continues to be the best High Jumper in the NEC, with his season best mark of 2.15 meters being the 16th best nationally. 

Lastly, Laila Davis was given her first NEC Women's Field Athlete of the Week nod after throwing a personal best distance of 17.00 meters in the Women's Weight Throw at the Dr. Sander Scorcher. Davis is one half of the FDU Throws dynamic duo of her and Tata Coulibaly, as the pair are the two best throwers in the NEC in the Weight Throw category, and both are inside the top five in the Women's Shot Put as well. 

The Knights will next compete in the METS invite at the Ocean Breeze Athletic Complex, as well as Lopez and Davis taking part in the Millrose Games in the ladder part of the weekend at the New York Armory in the Bronx.
