HACKENSACK, N.J. –
David Jevtic recorded his first career double-double, but the Knights (7-14, 4-4) could not overcome a cold shooting night as they fell to Le Moyne (11-10, 6-2) 87-74.
- Jevtic matched a career-best with 14 points on 3-6 shooting
- The freshman knocked down 8-9 from the charity stripe
- Jevtic grabbed ten rebounds to complete the double-double
- The Serbian logged over 29 minutes of action
Le Moyne built control early by shooting efficiently and stretching the margin to double digits midway through the first half, as FDU struggled to find a rhythm offensively. The Dolphins opened a 17-point lead after a pair of late threes and went into the locker room ahead 39–24, holding FDU to 24.2 percent shooting in the opening period and forcing the Knights to play from behind.
FDU responded with a strong second-half push, opening with baskets from
Eric Parnell and
Arthur Cox to cut the deficit to 43-28. A Parnell three and a
David Jevtic layup made it 52-38, and
Joey Niesman's driving basket and later three-pointer trimmed the margin to 64-49 with under 10 minutes remaining. Despite cutting the lead to as few as seven late, FDU could not fully close the gap and fell 87–74 after scoring 50 points in the second half
- Taeshaud Jackson (15 points), Eric Parnell (14 points) and Joey Niesman (14 points) all joined Jevtic in double figures
- Jackson went 7-7 from the charity stripe
- The Knights were 22-28 at the free throw line
- FDU grabbed 36 rebounds to Le Moyne's 32
- They collected 17 offensive rebounds and turned those into 23 second chance points
- The Knights created 11 assists and committed just five turnovers
FDU will travel to Stonehill to take on the Skyhawks on Thursday, January 29, at 7 p.m. Fans can watch the game on NEC Front Row.
