NEW YORK, N.Y. - FDU Track and Field spent the last two days competing at the Dr. Sander Scorcher at the New York Armory in the Bronx. The Knights got the chance to compete against the best track athletes on the East Coast, as over 20 schools made the trip to the Armory to compete throughout Friday and Saturday. 

The Knights were once again led by sophomore Chase Lopez, who won the Men's Open Mile event, by clocking a time of 4:13.66. Lopez is knocking on the door of the best mile time in the NEC as well as the best 800 meter dash time in the conference. Lopez has competed at three track meets so far in the new year, and has won at least one event in all three. 

On the first day of competition, the Knights started out fast, as two FDU distance runners found themselves in the top ten of the Men's Open 800 meter run, as Liam Schwabik finished the event in fourth place with a time of 1:56.07, and his teammate Brandon Barreto rounded out the top ten, with a time of 1:57.42 to take 10th place. 

Two other Knights finished in the top ten of the Women's Open 200 meter dash event that took place on Saturday, with junior Tata Coulibaly placing 8th, with a time of 25.91 seconds, and Juline Nwosu coming in 10th, clocking a time of 26.01 seconds. 
 

What's Next

The Knights will next run at the METS Invite, which will take place at the Ocean Breeze Athletic Complex. Action from Staten Island will start at 10 a.m. on Friday, January 30th.
