McDonald's Perimeter Shooting Leads FDU Over CCSU

HACKENSACK, N.J. – FDU women's basketball (16-4, 7-0) picked up a convincing 76-45 win over Central Connecticut State (0-18, 0-7) on Thursday night.

THE STORY

The Knights took control of things early thanks to some excellent shooting from deep. FDU knocked down five threes as a team in the first quarter, helping them take a 20-13 advantage after the first ten minutes of play. FDU kept their foot on the gas pedal, going on a 12-0 run across the end of the first quarter into the second, giving them a solid double-digit cushion.

When the second half came around, the Knights led by nine. They quickly added to that lead as the half began. FDU started the third quarter on an 11-2 run, thanks to some expert shooting out of sophomore Kailee McDonald. The Lowell, Mass. native would knock down four three-pointers in the third quarter, helping the Knights outscore the Blue Devils 20-9 in the frame. FDU went into the final quarter with a rock-solid 20-point lead, and cruised to victory from there on out.
