NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y. — FDU defeated Columbia in three sets on Saturday afternoon (25-16, 26-24, 25-23). The Knights have extended their winning streak to three matches.
Set 1:
FDU would control the first set behind the fire of Bertoli, who had 4 kills with one being a dig that translated into a kill. The Knights tamed the Lions, taking the set 25-16.
Set 2:
Columbia would put up a fight in the second set. While the Lions would reach set point first, a late kill by Giorgia Vaschetti would tie the set. Kyndal Ganoe would snipe the set from the Lions with back-to-back aces, 26-24.
Set 3:
Trying to push a fourth set, the Lions had no answer for the duo of Alessia Zampieri and Isabella Scarfone, whose slide combination play proved to be highly effective. Vaschetti would put the lock on the cage with one final kill, 25-23
