HANOVER, Md. – Eight Knights recorded hits in FDU's (16-37, 16-14) season finale victory over Coppin State (15-34,13-17) on Saturday. FDU closed out the 14-4 win in just eight innings.
Cooper Montelbano got the start and picked up his fifth win of the season. He went five innings, allowing six hits and four runs.
Joseph Barbarino and
Stephen Proko combined for three scoreless out of the pen.
FDU scored four in the first and led 5-2 after the second. They blew the doors off the game in the fifth inning when they exploded for six runs.
The top of the order did most of the heavy lifting. Hitters 1-3 in FDU's lineup went a combined 6-14 with three extra base hits and three RBIs.
Jeremy Cheeseman drove in three runs himself with a double in the first and a bases-loaded walk in the fifth.
Constant pressure on the basepaths allowed the Knights to take advantage of Coppin State's miscues. Six errors by the home team only added to FDU's dominance on the scoreboard.
Today's win wraps up the 2025 FDU baseball season.
