NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y. – The FDU Knights (7-22, 7-5 NEC) faced the Iona Gaels (9-17, 3-6 MAAC) in a midweek matchup that ended in a 10-5 loss for FDU.
In his first career start for the Knights,
Ben Pika earned the nod on Tuesday. The graduate right-hander recorded three strikeouts over three innings while allowing three runs on six hits.
FDU jumped out to an early lead in the second inning by scoring five runs.
Travis Stroh plated a run with a sacrifice fly to right field, and soon after,
Jimmy Mantuano doubled to left center, driving in two runs. Immediately following,
Johnathan Gomez hit a two-run single to extend the lead to 5-0.
Iona responded in the third inning, scoring three runs to cut the deficit to 5-3. After two consecutive fielder's choices, the Gaels added two more runs to tie the game at 5-5. A double through the left side then gave Iona a 7-5 lead, and they further extended their advantage by adding three more runs over the sixth and seventh innings, sealing the win.

The Knights are scheduled to begin a conference series on Friday, April 4, at Stonehill. The first pitch of game one is set for 3 p.m. and will be streamed on NEC Front Row.
