TEANECK, N.J. – The FDU Knights (2-12, 2-0) continued their three-game series against the Le Moyne Dolphins (0-12, 0-2) with a dominant 13-0 victory in seven innings.
Sophomore
Cooper Montelbano delivered a stellar performance on the mound, striking out three batters while pitching six scoreless innings against 23 batters.
The Knights' offense was a force to be reckoned with, ignited by a first-inning solo home run from
Jimmy Mantuano, putting FDU on the board early.
FDU added three more runs in the third inning, courtesy of a two-run double from
Johnathan Gomez and an RBI single to center field by
Nate Dudeck. In the fifth, Dudeck launched a three-run homer over the right-field fence on a full count, extending the Knights' lead to 7-0.
Later in the inning,
Travis Stroh came through in the clutch, ripping a double to center field to drive in two more runs, giving FDU a commanding 9-0 advantage.
The Knights put the game out of reach in the sixth inning, as
Joey DiMotta and
Nick Quagliato each recorded two RBIs, sealing the 13-0 shutout victory.
"It was a great performance from Cooper on the mound today," said head coach
Manny Roman. "Our defense was solid behind Cooper and our offense did a great job grinding out at bats and capitalizing in big spots."
