BOGOTA, N.J. – FDU men's tennis fell short in their comeback attempt against Mercyhurst on Saturday night, falling 4-3.
The Knights fell behind early, losing the doubles point. Thomas Linley and Gryffin Minor overcame a 4-1 deficit to win the first flight 6-4.
FDU was able to overcome the early 1-0 deficit when Gryffin Minor produced a 6-0, 6-4 win at third singles. In the fifth and sixth flights, both Andrew Nicolae and Jorge Alonso Cortes picked up commanding wins, 6-1, 6-0 and 6-1, 6-1 respectively.
Mercyhurst collected crucial victories in singles that propelled them to victory. Joshua Oboniye fell in a three thriller, 4-6, 6-3, 4-6 at first singles. Thomas Linley and Asaf Schwartz both lost in straight sets.
