Liverpool, N.Y. - FDU put on an impressive singles display to clinch a decisive win over Le Moyne on Saturday.
Le Moyne struck first in the No. 1 doubles match, as Feriel Mahbouli and Ella Fernando edged out Namie Isago and Yelena Kim in a tense battle, 7-6, 8-6. However, FDU quickly answered by taking the remaining two doubles matches. Alena Kubanova and Anastasia Lim dominated at No. 2 doubles with a 6-0 shutout, while Valentina Silva and Katsiaryna Kostsina secured a 6-2 victory at No. 3, giving FDU the early doubles point.
FDU carried its momentum into singles, winning five of six matches. Namie Isago set the tone at No. 1 singles with a commanding 6-1, 7-5 win over Mahbouli. At No. 2, Anastasia Lim staged a comeback after dropping the first set, defeating Fernando 2-6, 6-1, 6-2.
Alena Kubanova followed with a strong performance at No. 3, topping Paula Casares 6-3, 6-4. Valentina Silva (No. 4) and Katsiaryna Kostsina (No. 5) closed out their matches with dominant wins—Silva winning 8-4 over Alicia Alvarez and Kostsina overcoming Stella Simeonova 8-7 (7-2).
