Men's Tennis Earns Victory at Le Moyne

DeWitt, N.Y. – FDU men's tennis opened Northeast Conference play with a convincing 6-1 victory over Le Moyne.

Le Moyne set the tone in doubles, sweeping all three matches. Peter Hatton and Adrian Daniel took the No. 1 doubles match 6-4, while Lorenzo Bortolaso and Luke Hoyland edged out Joshua Oboniye and Andrew Nicolae in No. 2 doubles, 7-6, 7-5. Jacob Maravillas and Bernardo Teixeira secured the No. 3 doubles match with a 6-4 win, giving the Dolphins the crucial doubles point.

However, FDU responded with resilience in singles, winning five of six matches to claim overall victory.

But FDU took control from there, starting with Gryffin Minor's marathon battle at No. 2 singles, where he overcame Adrian Daniel 7-6 (7-5), 2-6, 7-5. Thomas Linley followed with another three-set victory at No. 3, rallying past Bernardo Teixeira 6-7, 6-3, 6-3.

FDU's momentum carried into the lower flights, as Tauras Mickus (No. 4) and Asaf Schwartz (No. 5) earned straight-set wins. Mickus topped Maravillas 6-2, 6-3, while Schwartz battled to a 7-6 (7-5), 7-5 triumph over Hoyland.

The deciding match came at No. 6 singles, where Jorge Alonso-Cortes outlasted Navya Verma in a third-set super tiebreak, 6-3, 4-6, 14-12, sealing the overall victory for FDU.
