FAIRFIELD, C.T. - FDU (7-6) dropped their second match of the season to Sacred Heart (4-11) 3-1.
It was the final tune up for the Knights before NEC play begins next week. In the first meeting, these two teams were very level and played a hard-nosed match. This time around Sacred Heart jumped out to early lead and never looked back. FDU's offense didn't hit higher than .107 in any set, which was in large part due to solid defense by the Pioneers.
The second set was the best set of the match for FDU, sparked in large part by
Jamal Ellis Carballo six kills off the bench.
Dylan McFadden had another solid performance, putting in 11 kills on a .318 hitting percentage. Following the strong second set, Sacred Heart rallied and put together two more dominant sets to take the match.
Conference play begins on Friday, March 21st at LIU in Brooklyn, N.Y. Tune in to NEC Front Row to catch the action.
