NEW BRITAIN, Conn. – The FDU Knights (2-17, 2-3 NEC) dropped game two of their weekend series against Central Connecticut (6-3, 4-1 NEC), falling 11-1 in seven innings on Saturday.
FDU struck first in the third inning thanks to heads-up base running by
Nate Dudeck, who capitalized on a wild pitch to cross the plate and give the Knights an early 1-0 lead.
However, Central Connecticut responded in a big way, led by a dominant performance from starting pitcher Vincent Borghese. The right-hander kept the Knights' offense quiet, allowing just four hits while striking out seven in a complete-game effort.
The Blue Devils' offense broke the game open behind Antonio Ducatelli, who delivered the biggest blow with a grand slam, driving in four runs. Aidan Redahan also had a strong day at the plate, going 3-for-3 with two RBIs and two runs scored.
