Knights Soar Past Golden Eagles

ORLANDO, Fla. - FDU men's tennis recorded an impressive non-conference victory against Marquette on Thursday morning, 4-3.

The Knights took control of the match early, boasting commanding results en route to clinching the doubles point. Joshua Oboniye and Andrew Nicolae combined for a 6-2 win in the second flight, while Taurus Mickus and Gareth Ong won 6-1 in the third flight. Gryffin Minor and Thomas Linley were up 5-3 at first doubles, but the match was abandoned.

Joshua Oboniye battled at first singles, ultimately dropping the decision 4-6, 7-6 (7-4), 5-7.

Gryffin Minor lost in straight sets 4-6, 4-6 in the second flight.

Thomas Linley grinded out FDU's first singles win, coming from a set down and winning in a third set.

Taurus Mickus remains unbeaten in his last six matches, defeating Kristian Blagoev 6-4, 6-4.

Andrew Nicolae fought through a three-set match at fifth singles, falling 4-6, 6-3, 1-6.

Jorge Alonso-Cortes sealed the victory for the Knights, closing out a straight set victory 7-5, 6-2.

The men will travel to Fairfield on Thursday March 20th for a 12:00 PM first serve.
