BRIDGEWATER, N.J. – The Northeast Conference announced their weekly awards on Monday afternoon.
Ava Renninger took home multiple honors, being named the NEC/Atlantic Tomorrow's Office Co-Player of the Week, as well as the NEC/Atlantic Tomorrow's Office Rookie of the Week.
It is the second time this season that Renninger has taken home a Player of the Week honor, and the seventh time this season that she has won Rookie of the Week honors.
The Yardley, PA native racked up more accolades to her name following the best game of her collegiate career to date on February 1. In FDU's win over Mercyhurst, Renninger led the way, dropping 28 points to go with six makes from deep. The 28 point explosion set a career-high for the freshman. It also marks the most points in a game by any Knight this season.
Her six made three-pointers are the most in a single game by a Knight this year as well.
Renninger's offensive explosion improved her scoring numbers to 14.2 PPG on the season, leading all FDU players. Renninger's scoring mark is also 16th amongst all Division I freshmen.
Renninger splits the Player of the Week award with CCSU's Belle Lanpher, marking the first time this season that the NEC has awarded a Co-Player of the Week honor in women's basketball.
For her efforts, Renninger was also named an NEC Prime Performer on Monday. She was joined by her teammate
Teneisia Brown in receiving that honor. Brown scored 13 points and tallied eight rebounds, six assists, two steals, and one block in the win over Mercyhurst.
The Knights will be back in action on Thursday, February 6 when they travel to CCSU. The two Co-Players of the Week in Renninger and Lanpher will face off for a big showdown on the YES Network. Tip-off will come at 4:00 p.m.
