BRIDGEWATER, N.J. – The Northeast Conference announced their women's basketball weekly awards on Monday, February 17. The FDU Knights swept the competition for the fourth time this season, with Teneisia Brown being named the NEC/Atlantic Tomorrow's Office Co-Player of the Week, and Ava Renninger being named the NEC/Atlantic Tomorrow's Office Rookie of the Week.
It is the fifth time this season that Brown has been recognized as NEC Player of the Week, the most by any player in the conference this season. It is the eighth time this season that Renninger is the NEC Rookie of the Week, also the most by any player in the conference.
The two Knights sweep honors after a dominating week, as the Knights went 2-0 against Chicago State and LIU.
Teneisia Brown has been on fire as of late for FDU. She has recorded a double-double in four straight games, extending that streak this week. Brown recorded 16 points and 14 rebounds in an exciting road victory over the Cougars on 2/13. She followed that up with a dominating 23 point, ten rebound performance at home against LIU just two days later.
In the Knights win over LIU, Brown also recorded her 1,000th collegiate point, capping a remarkable week for the graduate student big.
Renninger continued what has been one of the best rookie seasons in recent NEC history. The freshman guard led FDU in scoring in each of the Knights wins this week. Renninger dropped 17 points on the road against Chicago State to lead the way, and grabbed eight rebounds to boot.
At home against LIU, Renninger erupted for 25 points, converting four triples to help the Knights dominate in a 75-45 victory.
Brown and Renninger were both named NEC Prime Performers for their efforts this week as well. It is the tenth time this season that Brown has been named a prime performer, and the seventh time this season that Renninger has been.
The two stars as well as the rest of the Knights will be back in action on Thursday, February 20. FDU will host Le Moyne in a showdown on ESPNU. Tip-off will be at 5:00 p.m.
