ALTOONA, Pa. – FDU women's bowling captured their eighth NEC regular season championship on Sunday afternoon in Altoona. The Knights went 3-0 on the final day of NEC 2 to clinch the title. These wins put the finishing touches on a 9-3 record for the weekend.
FDU finished 17-7 at NEC events this season.
On day one FDU captured wins over Duquesne and Niagara, which allowed them to move up in the standings. Their win over the Dukes came by a slim margin of two pins.
Day two proved to up and down. The Knights went 3-2 with two wins over LIU and one more over Duquesne. They did lose to Mercyhurst, which created a two-way tie at the top of the standings between them and the Lakers heading into the final day.
Sunday started with a win over Monmouth. Next, FDU took down Mercyhurst to give them the edge in the standings. A Mercyhurst loss to Niagara in the next round then clinched the title for FDU. The Knights closed the day with a win over Wagner.
