HACKENSACK, N.J. - FDU Track and Field opened their indoor season with the Knights Midweek Clash inside the Bogota Savings Bank Center. The Knights were dominant throughout the meet, tallying 13 total wins across the 20 events on Wednesday afternoon.
"It was an amazing way to kick off the season at our track, and also getting to celebrating our seniors," Ella G. Stratis Head Coach of Cross Country and Track and Field
Wesley Stephens said. "I thought the energy and atmosphere was tremendous from start to finish. We can't wait to get back in the lab and prepare for our last couple meets in December."
The Knights opened the 2025 indoor slate on the right foot, as the first events of the afternoon were the field events, where the Knights won three of the four events in the field category. In the Men's Shot Put event, the Knights grabbed the first four places on the leaderboard, with junior
Darien Cade taking home first, with a mark of 15.12 meters. FDU would also claim first and second in the Women's Shot Put as
Laila Davis won the event on her senior day, by throwing a distance of 13.05 meters. In the final field event, FDU sophomore
Jade Cruz took first in the Women's Long Jump, jumping 5.20 meters to capture first place.
Following a Senior Day celebration, the Knights continued the momentum on the track as the running events kicked off. Freshman Temi Adebayo took home first place in her first collegiate race for FDU, winning the Women's 3,000 meter race with a time of 11:41.56. All NEC Cross Country select
Chase Lopez won his first race of track season in the Men's rendition of the 3,000 meter, as Lopez clocked a time of 8:46.67 to add another first place finish for FDU.
The FDU sprinters rode the momentum from the distance crew, as
Juline Nwosu was another Knight to cross the finish line first, as she ran a speedy 7.80 seconds to capture the crown in the Women's 60 meter dash. The Knights women's swept the 500 meter race as well, with Courtney Adams winning her first collegiate race, and having freshman
Tanari Wyatt and sophomore
Amiaya Richardson behind her to have all three Knights on the podium. Another Knight to make her FDU Track and Field debut and win was Mackenna Calvin, as the freshman won the Women's One Mile run, by completing the eight lap race in 5:45.58.
In the relay portion of the evening, FDU claimed first in the Men's Distance Medley Relay, as the team of Brandon Baretto,
Ethan Ruffin,
Liam Schwabik and
Chase Lopez won the event by running a time of 10:40.50 to win the event by 24 seconds.
The Knights will return to action as the team will hit the road to take on the Youree Spence-Garcia Invitational at the Ocean Breeze Indoor Track Complex in Staten Island, N.Y. Action from the invite will start at 4 p.m.
