McDonald's 22 Points Lead Knights over Ursinus

HACKENSACK, N.J. – FDU women's basketball (8-3, 0-0) completed a 85-19 victory over Ursinus on Saturday afternoon.
 
THE STORY

The Knights opened up the game on fire, starting out on a 24-3 run. Kailee McDonald lit up the three-point arc to begin the game, knocking down four triples in the first quarter of play, and finishing the first quarter with 14 points.

FDU absolutely clamped down on Ursinus through the first quarter, allowing just two made field goals. The stellar defense for FDU continued into the second quarter, as they allowed just two points on one made basket by the Bears in the frame. McDonald stayed hot in the second for FDU, knocking down her fifth three of the first half. The sophomore would go into the halftime break with 19 points, ten more than Ursinus scored as a team in the first half. 

The Knights kept their foot on the gas pedal in the second half, pulling away to seal up the victory. The second half was capped by another impressive defensive quarter for FDU. The Knights held Ursinus to just two points across the fourth quarter, leading to the 85-19 final. FDU held Ursinus to just seven made field goals across the entirety of regulation.

THE STATS
  • Kailee McDonald led the way for FDU, scoring 22 points.
    • McDonald's 22 is one shy of a career-high, set earlier this season against Lafayette on 12/4.
    • The sophomore scored her points with the help of six made three-pointers; this marks the third game in 2025-26 in which McDonald has made at least five threes.
    • McDonald out-scored Ursinus on her own in the victory.
    • The Lowell, Mass. native also grabbed four steals.
  • Leah Crosby finished the game with 13 points, and two rebounds shy of a double-double.
  • Reese Downey contributed 11 points in the victory.
    • The freshman knocked down two threes and grabbed six rebounds across 22 minutes off the bench.
  • The Knights defense completely shut down Ursinus in the win.
    • FDU allowed just seven made field goals.
    • FDU forced 18 Ursinus turnovers.
  • FDU dominated the glass, winning the rebound battle 64 to 21.
WHAT'S NEXT

FDU returns home after the holiday break to host the FDU Christmas Classic. The Knights will play Binghamton on December 29 in Hackensack at 2 p.m. FDU will then play the winner or loser of Penn vs. UMES the following day at 4 p.m.
