BROOKLYN, N.Y. — The Knights women's volleyball team (16-11, 10-4) struggled to establish their offense against LIU (15-8, 13-1) on Saturday afternoon. The Sharks emerged on top in four-sets (19-25, 19-25, 30-28, 7-25).
Defensively, the Knights put together a strong performance. Vittoria Bertoli and Angela Marchetto each recorded 4 blocks, while Kyndal Ganoe tallied 12 digs. However, it was not enough as LIU outplayed FDU.
Set 1:
The Knights traded leads for a majority of the set, but three service aces by the Sharks opened their largest lead. LIU took the opening set, 25-19.
Set 2:
Offensively, the Sharks came out hot from the start. While FDU rallied a few kills to pull within one, errors proved costly for the Knights. LIU closed out the set, 25-19
Set 3:
Not going down without a fight, the Knights made it a marathon. Trading leads late, FDU came out on top in overtime, 30-28.
Set 4:
The Sharks took control immediately, going on a 13-0 run. FDU struggled to find any offensive rhythm, allowing LIU to pull away for a 25-7 win.
The Knights return home for their final two matches of the regular season, hosting CCSU on Friday November 14 at 6 p.m. and Saturday November 15 at 1 p.m.
