Jevtic Notches 14 in Debut; Knights Fall at No. 16 Iowa State

AMES, Iowa – FDU men's basketball (0-1, 0-0) opened their season at no. 16 Iowa State (1-0, 0-0) on Monday night. The home Cyclones jumped on the Knights early and claimed an 88-50 victory at the Hilton Coliseum.

KNIGHT OF THE NIGHT

GAME FLOW

Iowa State opened the game on a 13-3 run to create the initial separation. The Knights began to settle in, scoring eight points in the three minutes that followed, but the Cyclones'weakened any chance of FDU making a significant dent in the deficit. Iowa State closed the half on a 23-8 run and led 45-19 at the half.

The FDU offense displayed a higher level of poise in the second half. The Knights limited themselves just five turnovers after committing 13 in the first stanza. This allowed FDU to make 13 trips to the line, where they converted nine free throws. It also led to eight more shot attempts which manifested itself in four made threes.

While it was a prettier picture on the offensive end for the Knights, Iowa State continued to score in spurts. A 22-7 Cyclone run in the middle of the half led to their largest lead of the game. However, FDU was outscored by just 12 (43-31) in the second half.
