KANSAS CITY, MO. – FDU men's soccer was ranked fifth in the latest iteration of the United Soccer Coaches' Northeast Region Poll.
The Knights surge up the rankings following a dominant 2-0 week in NEC play. The Knights picked up two shutout victories, beginning with a stunning victory against New Haven on October 2. Jaime Barbero scored a thrilling game-winner in the 82nd minute to topple the Chargers on Thursday evening.
FDU stayed hot into the weekend, putting together a 4-0 rout of Chicago State on Sunday afternoon. Barbero scored again in the match to put himself on a three-game goal streak. After the 2-0 week, the Knights rank atop the NEC table with a 3-0 record in conference.
The offensive attack has been the driving force for FDU's incredible start. The Knights have scored 21 goals on the season, which paces the NEC. FDU also leads the conference in points (62), and assists (20).
The Knights have been stellar on the defensive end as well. FDU leads the conference with a .917 GAA.
FDU's number five ranking in the Northeast Region Poll also paces all NEC members.
