Bain Leads the Knights to Back-to-Back Sweeps Over the Chargers

WEST HAVEN, Conn. — Avery Bain was electrifying against the Chargers with 13 kills, leading FDU women's volleyball (9-8, 3-1) to their second straight sweep over New Haven (2-10,1-3) Saturday night (25-18, 25-22, 26-24).

In addition to Bain, Alessia Zampieri had a night with 8 kills and 3.5 blocks. The setter duo of Isabella Scarfone and Samantha Wittholz complimented each other well totaling 32 assists.

Set 1:

The Knights settled in early, becoming a well-oiled machine that gained a six-point advantage over the Chargers. FDU held their lead and took set one, 25-18.

Set 2:

Holding onto their momentum, FDU jumped out to an early lead. However, the Chargers' block would come alive, chipping away at the Knights lead. A huge setter dump by Scarfone closed out set two, 25-22.

Set 3:

It was an all out battle in set three, but the Knights opened a lead late behind a few errors by the Chargers. New Haven did not back down, rallying several points to tie the set, 24-24. FDU proved experience in pressure situations with a kill and ace to finish the match, 26-24.
