WEST HAVEN, Conn. — FDU women's volleyball (8-8, 2-1) took down new conference opponent New Haven (2-9,1-2) in straight sets Friday night (25-14, 25-18, 25-17).
Leading the charge for the burgundy and blue, Alessia Zampieri and Avery Bain had 11 kills a piece. Kyndal Ganoe continued to dominate the back row with 12 digs.
Set 1:
Out the gate, the Knights took an early 6-1 lead, forcing the Chargers to call their first timeout. FDU would continue to control the set, taking set one, 25-14.
Set 2:
New Haven would get some momentum going for the first half of the set, staying within one of the Knights. Out of the media timeout, several errors proved costly for the Chargers. The Knights closed out set two, 25-18.
Set 3:
Trading points back and forth, the Chargers continued to push the Knights. However, the duo of Isabella Scarfone and Zampieri would push on the gas, tallying 4 points with two kills and two aces. The Knights came out on top, 25-17.
The Stats:
The Knights return to West Haven, Connecticut, tomorrow, Saturday October 4, to take on the Chargers for round two starting at 7 p.m.
