Women's Bowling Finishes Second at N.J. Open; Fogarty Earns All-Tournament Honors

HACKENSACK, N.J. – FDU women's bowling hosted the N.J. Open this weekend at Bowler City in Hackensack. The Knights posted an 8-4 record and finished in second place.

Emily Fogarty earned her second All-Tournament Team honor of the year for her performance in the traditional round. She knocked down 1014 pins across five matches for an average of 202.8.

The Knights went 2-3 on day one of the tournament, before a dominant effort on the second day. They won all five matches, including a thrilling two pin victory over NEC opponent Monmouth. FDU's best performance of the baker total pinfall round came against Dominican when they knocked down 1025 pins en route to a convincing victory.

Championship Sunday began on a high note. The Burgundy and Blue swept Monmouth to earn a spot in the title match. They averaged 198 pins per game in their sixth straight victory.

The Hawks would come back to defeat FDU in the title match, but it was not without a fight from the Knights. After falling behind 2-0 in the best of seven, FDU displayed great resilience. They won the next two games before dropping the fifth. Facing elimination, the Burgundy and Blue posted a 243 to force a game seven. They were defeated in the seventh game 236-214.
