TEANECK, N.J.- Two first half goals propelled FDU (7-5-3, 7-0) to another NEC victory over Central Connecticut (4-5-3, 4-1-2). Nadia Wojcik and Marina Burzaco found the back of the net in the game's first 45 minutes to give FDU the lead.
Wojcik recorded the first shot of the game, which was saved by the goalkeeper. In the 8th minute of play, Andrea Ougaard sent a pass to Wojcik who scored her first career goal to put the Knights ahead early 1-0.
The Knights offense was not done, as Dominique Liberto found Marina Burzaco for FDU's second goal of the half in the 32nd minute. Burzaco's goal extended her point streak to nine.
At the end of the first half, FDU outshot the Blue Devils 6-1. FDU carried their 2-0 lead into the intermission.
"I felt our first 35 minutes was the best 35 minutes we've had this year," head coach Eric Teepe said. "For the first 35 minutes we were moving the ball really well, keeping possession, and creating opportunities."
The two first half goals and a pair of second half yellow cards proved too much for Central Connecticut to overcome. The visitors held FDU to just three shots in the second half, but could only generate two chances offensively.
Defensively, the Knights were able to stifle the biggest chance for the Blue Devils in the second half. With an open net in the 65th minute, FDU had a lone defender in the box to pick up a critical team save to keep their opponents off the board.
The Knights continue to stay atop the NEC with 21 points and a 7-0 conference record.
The Knights will host Saint Francis on October 19. Kickoff is scheduled for 12 p.m.
