Box Score PRINCETON, N.J. – FDU men's volleyball traveled to Princeton earlier today, to face the No. 18 Tigers in their first away match of the season. Despite a strong opening, the Knights were unable to find an answer for a determined Princeton squad.
 
Set one saw a confident start from the Knights, who tallied nine kills within their first 15 points. Junior Jamal Ellis Carballo logged five of his own in set one, leading the team. With two blocks and two service aces to go with their 11 kills, the Burgundy and Blue were able to keep up with a determined Princeton squad for a majority of the set. However, six service errors and a struggling defense led the Knights to drop set one 22-25.
 
Finding themselves in a rut, FDU struggled to put together any rallies in set two. The Knights found themselves down 5-13 early and were unable to pull together a run long enough to come back from the deficit. As a team, the Burgundy and Blue hit -.273, with only four kills on the set. Princeton was able to cruise to a 25-17 set two victory to take a 2-0 match lead.  
 
Playing off their momentum from the first two sets, a hot hitting Tigers squad continued the dominance to close out set three and win the match 3-0. With eight kills and only one error, a .389 hitting percentage, six aces and two blocks Princeton rolled to a 25-10 victory.
 
FDU was led by Ellis Carballo, who tallied six kills, two blocks and two digs. Defensively, the Knights were led by senior Grady Hoffman who logged seven digs in the three sets.
 
The Burgundy and Blue are back in action tomorrow (02/01) as they head to Springfield, Mass. to face American International. First serve is set for 12 p.m. at the Henry A. Butova Gymnasium.
